According to the UAE ambassador to South Africa, the agreement was ratified by both countries, with the UAE doing so in April.
The Gupta brothers, who have moved to Dubai, are wanted in South Africa as they have been implicated in state capture.
Last week, the National Prosecuting Authority asked Interpol to help execute arrest warrants for two brothers and their wives.
